Research
My research examines how entrepreneurs galvanise social transformations and accomplish strategic, status, and systemic change in the society. My main focus is on the transformative processes, understanding how those starting on the periphery change the rules of the game and alter the existing order. By studying the evolutionary dynamics of how entrepreneurs innovate and change, my research offers insights into transformational entrepreneurship.
Research themes
Transformation and entrepreneurship; purposeful entrepreneurship; systemic change; innovating and strategizing from the periphery.
Theory and methods
My research draws on micro-institutional theory, categories, frames and sensemaking. I use qualitative (typically single cases) and process (longitudinal) research.
Mature projects
The following projects are at the stage of conceptualization and early manuscript preparation:
- The Taliban’s adaptation in the face of superior military.
- A healthcare start-up transforming the global health field.
- Novices contesting experts’ prescriptions.
Early-stage projects
Several of my research projects are in the early stages of development, including how Tesla mainstreamed the electric cars, how low-carb category became pervasive in Japan, and how AI is changing expertise.
